About me

Built from the inside out.

Hi, I’m Laquette Reed, but you can call me Q. My journey into fitness and healing started on the football fields of Maywood, Illinois, where I played receiver and cornerback. But after a sudden injury and an unexpected diagnosis of cone dystrophy—which caused me to lose all but my peripheral vision—the trajectory of my life took an abrupt turn. Going through that transition required massive mental and emotional resilience. Through deep soul-searching, I didn't just rebuild my life; I found my true purpose. I became a Personal Trainer and Licensed Massage Therapist because I realized firsthand how deeply our physical bodies are connected to our mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Today, I use my unique life experiences to guide others through their own physical and mental obstacles. Experiencing vision loss gave me a profound gift: the ability to truly tune into the body, listen to what it needs, and coach the entire person—not just the muscles. No matter where you are starting from or what challenges you face, I am here to help you bridge the gap between work and recovery. There is no time like now. Let’s build your strength and restore your body, together.

My story

A trainer who knows what it means to adapt.

Cone dystrophy has taken my central vision. I work entirely from peripheral vision — and I've never let it slow me down.

I have cone dystrophy — a progressive retinal condition that has slowly taken my central vision over the years. Today I rely entirely on my peripheral vision. It's not something I hide, and it's not something that holds me back.

What it has given me is a deep, firsthand understanding of what it means to train and recover in a body that presents real challenges. I know the frustration of adapting. I know the discipline it takes to keep showing up. And I know the satisfaction of proving — to yourself and no one else — that you are stronger than your circumstances.

That perspective shapes every session I coach and every massage I give. I don't just see a client — I see a person navigating their own set of obstacles, and I meet them exactly where they are.

The philosophy
"Forge and Restore isn't just a name. It's the cycle every body needs — push hard, recover well, repeat."

I built this practice around one belief: that strength training and massage therapy aren't separate services — they're two halves of the same process. You can't keep forging without restoring. And restoring without purpose leaves gains on the table.
